The Odyssey
The night i escpaed from the cyclops i had a strange dream. The dream started off at the cyclops Polyphemus' cave. Much to my suprise, as i looked over to the cyclops he was'nt blind anymore. As soon as he saw me he started towards me shouting, "i'll get my revenge on you Odysseus." With spear in hand, i lunged toward him shouting back, "you'll never eat me i blinded you once and i'll blind you again." but then i suddenly relized that without him alive i would'nt survive. So i qickly devised a new plan to keep both of us alive untill the stone was moved. I grab the harden woodenstaf and pour a small amount of wine into it and offered it to him, hoping it would make him drunk. If he was drunk enough i could convience him to remove the stone which would lead me to my freedom. However when i offered it to him, he slapped it out of my hands and grabbed my spear and attacked me. Startled i woke up, hands sweaty and shakey, relizing it was just a dream.
My Monster
A monster in my life right now is balancing school and pom. It's a monster for me because it's very stressful and sometimes i don't have enough hours in the day to get everything that i need done with.
When i get home from school the first thing i do is my homework and by the time im done it's 4:30 and i have to eat still, stretch for pom, and clean up around the house. I leave at 5:20 that for me doesn't give me enough time to do extra things and to get what i wanted done. After i leave, i don't get home untill 9:15 which makes me all tired out and i can barely wake up in the morning. This is why balancing school and pom is a monster for me.

American Slavery and India's caste system
I think that the reasons for slavery given by the businesses were not justified. For examle, the landowners said they needed men to work on their land. this shows that they are to lazy to do it themselves. Also, if they needed people to work, instead of usiong African Americans they could of hired someone else to do it. I also feel that India's caste system is not justified because i do not agree with the way their classes are set up One of the reasons why i'm against the caste system is the physicall abuse that it cause. An example is when a six year old girl almost died because she walked threw a path of a higher class. I don't agree with either, American Slavery or India's Caste System. I feel that all men are created equally and should have an oppurtunity to achieve their desires despite their race and their class.
India's Caste System:
I feel that the caste system should not stay in place. As of right now, there is a fifth group called the "untouchables." I know that they are geting some help; howver, i feel they still need more. Obviously, if they are unhelathy, poorly educated, and discriminated against there shouldn't even be a fifth class. The "untouchables" should be looked at equally as the others. Also, there wasa six year old girl thrown in the fire because she walked threw a path reserved for only the upper class. This shows, how serious the Indian's are about their Caste System and if we don't get rid of the system soon it's going to get worse. For example, they could let the entire classes walk through any path they want, even though its not their own area. In addition, the gujjars community has been economically and educationally left behind. Obviously, if they would have had some assistence they would not want to be lowered into another class. Also, the gujjar"s should be able to get goverment jobs and have benifits like the scheduled tribs. These are just a few things that are wrong about the Caste system and my leaving the CAste System in place it would cause more damage to India. That is why i think we should eliminate India's Caste System.

Nectar in a Sieve
By examining the two characters and actions in Nectar in a Sieve, it's clear that the caste system plays an important part in the influencing the people's lives and decisions that they make.
The main action that influences Rukmani's and nathan's lives and decision they make in the tannery. A while after the tannery was built Nathan's landowner forced him to give up his land because they were going to give it to the tannery. Since Nathan was only a farmer he could'nt do anything about it because the landowner was higher in class than he was. Nathan and his family was forced to live without a home.
When Nathan and Rukmani go to find there son they meet a boy named Pullis. He looks half starved to death. This is because he is in a lower class than the other people in his village and can't fend for himself. Pullis has to beg for money, so he can buy food to stay alive. Now if he was in a higher class he could live like a child is supposed to and become as healthy as he can.
After Rukmani has her last child, Kuti, there is a drought. Irrawaddy goes into prostitution so that Kuti can get better again. Since Rukmani and her husband has no money to provide food. But if they were in a higher class, they would have had enough money to keep Kuti alive. Instead of him dying out of starvation.
These are just a few of the examples about the caste system through out Nectar in a Sieve that show the caste system impacting/influencing people's lives.
